True Biome: Why Patent Pending Matters

True Biome: Why Patent Pending Matters

At Ancient + Brave, every formulation begins with a question: How can we combine the best of ancestral wisdom with cutting-edge science to support modern wellbeing?

Discover how we go the extra mile to bring you wellness supplements you can trust, as we explain what we mean when we say that True Biome, our next-generation gut health blend, is officially patent pending in the UK (Application GB2512560.0) with international filings underway to extend protection to the European Union and the United States.

What does patent pending mean?

You may already know that our rituals are rigorously researched, but you might not know that some of our cutting-edge wellbeing formulas are in the process of becoming legally protected.

True Biome™ is officially patent pending with the UK Intellectual Property Office (Application GB2512560.0).

This means that we have asked the UK Intellectual Property Office to recognise True Biome as new and distinctive and to protect the uniqueness of this revolutionary gut health formula.

We have also initiated steps to extend patent protection to the EU and US via international filings.

These applications will build on our UK priority date and, once complete, ensure that the science behind True Biome is protected globally. Until those filings are formally published, “patent pending” refers specifically to our UK application, with international extensions in progress.

Why does patent pending matter?

Taking out a patent to protect True Biome’s unique formula is one of the many brave ways we commit to delivering science-backed supplement products backed by proof, not promises.

When you see patent pending, you can be sure that our formula is

  • Innovative

  • Original

  • Designed to meet strict standards

That’s because filing a patent requires us to provide a detailed disclosure of the matrix of prebiotics, postbiotics and supportive nutrients that help make our gut health formula so unique.

Having a patent in place also helps to future-proof our formulas. By safeguarding the science and keeping the formulation exclusive to Ancient + Brave, consumers cannot be misled by so-called dupes, which may not offer the commitment to high quality.

True Biome’s citizen-science trial

An expensive, timely process, securing a patent is not something that we have to do; this is a choice that we make so that you can be sure that your gut health supplements are innovative, effective and backed by science.

And it is not the only way that we go beyond to bring you supplements that you can believe in. We’ve also been running a 12-week citizen-science study for True Biome.

Involving 50 women from our Inner Circle community, this UK gut supplement trial used an independent laboratory to measure key gut-health and wellbeing markers at baseline, 6 and 12, revealing significant results which will help to close the data gap on female-focused wellbeing research.

Independent analysis is now underway, and we’ll share the findings here on the Science Hub as soon as the data is verified. Your gut and your curiosity deserve nothing less.
