Collagen, an important structural protein in the body, contributes to the integrity, elasticity and strength of skin, cartilage and bones. Collagen levels naturally decline from around 30 years old and hydrolysed collagen peptides play a key role in our cellular replenish and renewal process. Essential for positive-ageing beauty rituals and optimal daily wellbeing.
A simple solution for your future whole-body health.
Sustainably sourced from grass-fed cows in the EU. Good for you, good for the planet.
How to Use
15 x 5g Individually wrapped servings of True Collagen Powder.
We recommend a dose of 5 - 10g per day for optimal results.
Here are our top tips to help ensure your True collagen blends smoothly into your drink of choice:
1. Liquid first: Always add the collagen to your liquid, not the other way around.
2. Warm over cold: While collagen works in cold drinks, it dissolves more easily in warm liquids.
3. Pour from a height: Pouring the collagen from a height helps it disperse and dissolve better.
4. Resist the urge to stir: It’s tempting to stir right away, but this can cause clumping. Instead, let the powder sink and dissolve on its own - about 30 seconds should do it. Use this time for a few deep, mindful breaths! For frothy drinks, you may need to wait a little longer, but it will eventually settle.
True Collagen should be taken consistently to experience the full benefits.

Ingredients explained
Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides
Sustainably sourced from grass-fed herds in the EU.
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and acts like a structural scaffold, maintaining strength, suppleness and health
Collagen is a vital component of our connective tissues. It is also found throughout other areas of the body - skin, ligaments, bones, tendons, joints, cartilage, gut lining, blood vessels and even our hair, nails and teeth.
Our hydrolysed collagen peptides are a specific size (under 5000DAs) for maximum absorption and bioavailability.
Our True MCT oil provides a beautifully balanced blend of 60% C8 (caprylic acid) and 40% C10 (capric acid) which is clean, light and flavourless. Entirely sourced from coconuts with no palm oil.
Collagen production declines with age, starting in our mid-20s and decreasing by about 1% yearly. Sun exposure, poor diet, smoking, and stress accelerate collagen loss and hinder its synthesis. Modern diets, often lacking in collagen-rich foods like organ meats and bone-in cuts, may further reduce collagen-specific amino acids essential for skin, joint, and overall health.
Getting to action
Hydrolysed collagen is highly bioavailable, as it's broken into shorter amino acid chains called peptides that the body recognises as collagen. Once easily absorbed through the gut, these peptides supply the building blocks for new collagen and can also stimulate collagen-producing cells, supporting natural repair processes.
How long will it take to work?
We can use research to gauge some documented timing, however the honest answer is that it varies for everyone. Your body will prioritise where the collagen is needed most and factors like age, your need for collagen (e.g., recovering from injury), diet, lifestyle, and more all play a role in how quickly you may notice benefits.
Tailor your dose
The beauty of powdered collagen is that you can tailor the dose. For maintenance, we recommend taking 5–10 grams daily. To make this easy, the Ritual scoop measures 8 grams of True Collagen. For greater collagen support—like during injury recovery, or for active lifestyles—10–12 grams per day is ideal.
Whole Body Benefits
Collagen’s whole-body benefits reflect its ripple effect as a multi-functional protein. Beyond beauty, enhancing skin, hair, and nails, it supports joints, bones, muscles, gut health, and even cognitive function. This holistic impact makes it a simple addition for many aspects of our health and well-being.
Debunking the Top 10 Myths about Collagen Supplementation: Separating Fact from Fiction
Dr Jenna Macciochi debunks the top myths surrounding collagen supplements, shedding light on the real science behind its remarkable benefits.
Our True Collagen contains hydrolysed collagen peptides which are a more available and absorbable form of amino acids, making it easy for our body to utilise. Collagen exists in nature as a very large, complex molecule constructed from lots of long chains of polypeptides. The collagen molecule itself is far too big to be absorbed across the gut wall, so it needs to be broken down during digestion into smaller chains called peptides. Once absorbed, these peptides are available to contribute to collagen renewal within bones, skin and connective tissue. ‘Hyrdolysed’ simply means ‘unchaining’ the long protein strands into smaller ‘peptides’ so we can absorb them more readily. This process is like having them ‘predigested’, making them more bioactive so we can take them up and absorb them easily to build important tissues.
IS TRUE COLLAGEN SAFE TO TAKE DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING?
You should always consult with your doctor or midwife regarding any new additions to your diet or supplements you take during your pregnancy and breastfeeding journey. Whilst there are also no studies available due to ethical challenges involving research in pregnant people, we aren’t aware of any contraindications in taking any of our products whilst pregnant or breastfeeding and they should be well tolerated.
HOW AND WHEN TO TAKE TRUE COLLAGEN
Our True Collagen has been designed to be as versatile as possible, so you can fit it easily into your daily ritual. Collagen supplementation works best when it is taken consistently. Simply add it to a drink of your choice, hot or cold or mix it into food such as yogurt, porridge, smoothies or soups.
WHEN SHOULD I START TAKING COLLAGEN?
Taking collagen can be beneficial at any age, but we know that the body’s ability to produce collagen naturally starts to decline in our early 20s. As we move past roughly 30 years old, it is thought that collagen depletes faster than our body can produce it. Therefore, you can begin taking collagen in your 20s to get ahead of the body’s natural depletion as you age, but you are more likely to see noticeable benefits from age 35+. Ultimately, the age you want to start taking collagen supplements is a personal decision. The Ancient + Brave team will be here to support you and guide you through your journey.
HOW MUCH COLLAGEN SHOULD I TAKE PER DAY?
People take collagen for all different reasons, however for most health goals, ideally we would recommend taking between 5-10g of True Collagen daily. To really see the benefits, consistency is key, so making it part of your daily ritual is recommended. True Collagen can be added to tea, coffee, water, juice or even a smoothie of your choice. The beauty of True Collagen is that it’s completely odourless, tasteless and dissolves completely, making it an incredibly easy and versatile product to incorporate into your daily diet.
CAN YOU TAKE TOO MUCH COLLAGEN?
Although True Collagen is a safe supplement and we encourage you to take it daily, it is not generally regarded as a good idea to take an overwhelming amount of collagen at one time. The amount of collagen you’ll take will also depend on what your goals are, however we recommend you stick within the recommended dose, or the limits discussed by you and your doctor. Collagen is a compound your body naturally produces, so there are no harmful side effects of taking too much per se, except potentially an upset stomach or bloating. There are no studies that show upping the doses will help you reach your health goals any faster, therefore sticking to the recommended daily intake is optimal.
WHERE IS YOUR COLLAGEN SOURCED?
Our True Collagen is sourced from grass-fed cows in Europe.
It is sustainably sourced, grass-fed bovine collagen and is derived primarily from the hides. The cows have been raised naturally without hormones, antibiotics, chemicals, or GMOs. The True Collagen is of the highest quality and purity and is hydrolysed, making it highly absorbable, odourless and tasteless. As a company, we are committed to developing the best products sourced from environmentally conscious, sustainable suppliers.
IS TRUE COLLAGEN FODMAP-FRIENDLY?
Yes, True Collagen is a protein and does not contain any sugars or lactose so is suitable for people following a low FODMAP diet.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MARINE AND BOVINE COLLAGEN?
There are a few key differences between marine and bovine collagen linked in our journal article here. Ultimately, marine collagen and bovine collagen are equally effective - both providing 100% hydrolysed type I collagen peptides. One is not better than the other, it’s more a matter of dietary preference. As long as the quality of the supplement is high then its source doesn’t really affect the benefits you receive.
IS COLLAGEN STILL EFFECTIVE WHEN ADDED TO HOT food or DRINKS
The simple answer is yes! Many foods lose their nutritional value when you heat them, but collagen powder is not one of them.. Collagen peptides are heat stable up to 300°C, a temperature far higher than normal cooking and baking. As water boils at 100°C, collagen can be mixed into hot drinks, soups and stews without weakening its benefits.
Is collagen good for the menopause?
Collagen production is closely linked to the fluctuations in oestrogen levels and therefore when oestrogen drops, so does collagen formation. It is thought that up to 30% of dermal collagen is lost in the first 5 years of the menopause, however supplementation with Type 1 collagen peptides has been shown to stimulate natural collagen production and improve skin elasticity, hydration and reduce lines and wrinkles. Collagen does so much more than just cosmetics though - from improved bone density (also a concern during the menopause) better joint health and benefits for the cardiovascular system, it can be a supportive supplement for the body during such a significant change.
Can collagen supplements make me gain weight?
In short, no and in fact, collagen may actually be a vital tool in helping you maintain a healthy weight. Collagen is a protein, and has been scientifically proven to keep people feeling fuller and more satiated for longer. It has also been shown to help boost your metabolism by helping to build lean muscle mass which in turn helps your body burn calories more efficiently.
Does collagen survive stomach acid?
Stomach acid plays a very important role in breaking down protein and yet hydrolysed collagen peptides are unlikely to be digested in the stomach at all and instead go to the small intestine to be absorbed. Enzymes in the small intestine work at breaking down chains of protein molecules called peptides into even shorter peptides and amino acids which can then be absorbed in the bloodstream. The peptides and aminos will be added to the amino acid pool and trigger the body to produce new collagen.
