FAQs
When is the best time to take True Ashwagandha?
You can take True Ashwagandha at any time of day. If you're looking for energy and stress resilience throughout the day, it’s ideal to take it in the morning. However, if you want to promote relaxation and improve sleep quality, many people find it beneficial to take it in the evening as part of their bedtime routine. You can also split the dose between morning and evening.
Are there any side effects?
Ashwagandha is generally well-tolerated; however, as it is a natural product, some individuals may experience mild side effects in rare cases. If you’re new to Ashwagandha, we recommend starting with a lower dose of one capsule and gradually building up to the two-capsule dose, or splitting the dose across the day. As always, consult your healthcare provider if you have any concerns. Ashwagandha is not recommended for people who are about to have surgery, during pregnancy, or for those who have autoimmune disorders. Although Ashwagandha is known to support thyroid health, those with existing thyroid conditions should consult a health practitioner before supplementing.
I take medications, can I take True Ashwagandha alongside?
While Ashwagandha is a natural supplement, it’s always important to consult your healthcare provider if you are taking medications as Ashwagandha may interact with certain treatments. There is evidence that ashwagandha might interact with some medications, including those for diabetes and high blood pressure, medicines that decrease the immune system response (immunosuppressants), sedatives, anti-seizure medications (anticonvulsants), and thyroid hormone medications.
Can I take Ashwagandha if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not recommend taking Ashwagandha during pregnancy. However, Ashwagandha may help support hormone balance and manage stress during the transition into motherhood post-birth. While Ashwagandha has many benefits, it has not yet been studied during pregnancy and breastfeeding. We recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before taking Ashwagandha.
Is it safe for long-term use?
As an adaptogen, its benefits build over time, supporting your body’s natural ability to manage stress and maintain balance. Consistent, daily use can help you experience its full spectrum of benefits.
While ashwagandha is safe for long-term use, regular and prolonged intake of any substance, including herbal supplements, can lead to reduced sensitivity over time. By cycling ashwagandha—taking a short break of about one week every three months—you allow your body to reset and maintain its sensitivity to the herb.
Can I take True Ashwagandha if I already use other Ancient + Brave products that contain Ashwagandha?
Yes, True Ashwagandha can be taken alongside other Ancient + Brave products containing Ashwagandha, such as our Cacao blends and Coffee + Collagen blend. However, be mindful of your total Ashwagandha intake to avoid exceeding recommended doses.
