Whereas cocoa is made using a fermentation process drying, roasting and then milling cacao beans into a fine powder - raw cacao is made from unprocessed and unroasted cacao powder.
This gives raw cacao a subtle chocolate flavour and an improved nutrition profile since many of the natural phytonutrients, enzymes and vitamins found naturally in the cacao bean may be lost during the roasting process.
Cocoa originates from South America and was used by the Mayans for ceremonial rituals and health purposes.
Harvested from the cacao fruit tree, also known as Theobroma Cacao, cocoa is high in fibre, polyphenols, iron and magnesium and also contains phenylethylamine and theobromines which may have mood enhancing properties.
Cocoa beans are crushed, the fat or cocoa butter is removed, the beans are roasted and ground to create a deep, rich, intense, chocolaty, slightly bitter, slightly sweet flavour.
Known as ‘The Mushroom of Immortality’, Reshi has been used in traditional medicine practices for millenia. In Traditional Chinese medicine, Reshi is considered a ‘Shen Tonic’, used for restoring emotional balance, calm and consciousness. As such it has been studied as an incredible support to help wind down and improve sleep. Thanks to the naturally occurring active compounds such as beta-glucan polysaccharides and triterpenes found in Reishi, this mushroom has been found to be adaptogenic, aid cardiovascular health, support hormonal balance, and natural immune function. These powerful triterpenes are also what accounts for the bitter taste in reishi and is therefore is a good indicator of quality. Our Reishi Mushroom is 100% fruiting body and grown in controlled organic conditions to ensure purity.
You can find our Organic Reishi Mushroom in our Cacao + Reishi Blend, formulated for your Rest Rituals.
Beautiful deep pink in colour and rich in earthy beet flavours this incredible ingredient captured our hearts a long time ago. The nutrients found in beetroot include folate, vitamin C, manganese, potassium, fibre and several beneficial plant compounds such as the deep red plant pigment called betanin.
Beetroot also provides a natural source of inorganic nitrates which the body may convert into nitric oxide which supports the mechanisms involved with blood pressure balance.
Originating from Indonesia and China, cinnamon is a tree bark and has been important both as a culinary spice and as an Ayurvedic botanical for centuries.
Researchers are uncovering how this aromatic spice may help support the mechanism that help regulate blood sugar balance and its natural sweetness helps reduce the need for added sugar.
There is something incredibly comforting about the naturally sweet flavour and aroma of this beautiful spice and for this reason, we’ve included our beautiful organic cinnamon to Cacao + Collagen, Matcha + Collagen and Cacao + Reishi
Carob is a tropical, evergreen flowering shrub with pods that look like dark brown pea pods. These contain a naturally sweet edible pulp that tastes like chocolate!
The ancient Greeks were the first to cultivate carob trees and they are now grown all over the world from India to Australia.
Carob contains an impressive collection of nutrients including fibre, calcium (twice as much compared to cocoa), iron, potassium, manganese, magnesium, gallic acid and pectin.
Hops are the flowering tops of Humulus lupulus, and has been used medicinally for more than 2,000 years. Modern research is now looking at the malty hops flower to help improve sleep, relaxation, metabolic health and hormone balance. As well as boasting high antioxidant flavonoids, hops is also known as a potent phytoestrogen, and may go some way in supporting those on the peri-menopause journey and beyond.
You can find our calming organic hops in our Cacao + Reishi blend, formulated for your Rest Rituals.
Chicory Root Inulin
Soluble fibre is an important food source for the diverse numbers of friendly microbes that naturally reside in the gut microbiome.
Our organic inulin is sourced form chicory root and has a light, sweet and subtle malty flavour that helps satisfy those afternoon sweet tooth cravings.
Also, being a source of fibre, inulin also helps to keep you feeling fuller for longer – so it’s a win-win ingredient!
Also known as Indian ginseng this botanical is native to North Africa and India. It has been used for over 3000 years as one of the most important herbs in Ayurvedic medicine.
The Sanskrit translation of ashwagandha is ‘smell of the horse’ which refers to its ancient belief of supporting energy, endurance and strength.
In the West, ashwagandha is known as an adaptogen which helps build resilience to stress. These benefits are thought to be attributed to bioactive compounds naturally present in ashwagandha called withanolides.
As for taste, ashwagandha has a sweet, nutty, malty taste which adds a real comfort factor. It is one of our favourites and you can find organic ashwagandha in our Coffee + Collagen, Cacao + Collagen and Cacao + Reishi blends.
Originating in Africa, the baobab tree produces a hard fruit with a shell like coconut which is full of nutritious pulp. Baobab is an exceptional unique fruit with the ability to naturally dehydrate while still on the branch.
Requiring no heat or pasteurisation its properties remain intact meaning baobab powder is unusually nutrient dense, bursting with vitamin C (three times that of an orange) and nearly 50% fibre.
Pink Himalayan Salt
Protected from modern day pollution by snow and ice, Himalayan pink salt has been preserved in an untouched, pristine environment and is considered the purest salt on the earth.
Whereas salt simply provides sodium, Himalayan salt contains a full set of electrolyte minerals (calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium) and an impressive collection of 84 trace minerals and elements. The minerals in this salt exist in colloidal form, which means that they are small enough to be quickly and easily absorbed.
Our delightfully healthy hot chocolate brew is gently restorative with targeted nutritional benefits and can be enjoyed any time of day.
Add 10g Cacao + Reishi powder to a cup and mix with a little hot water. Then stir in a warm milk of your choice.
Blend with 1 tsp of our True MCT oil for a next level brew to help power you through the day.

Are We Drowning In Dopamine?
Dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain, is often described as a ‘reward or pleasure chemical’. Triggers for our dopamine response now come in the form of falling down a scroll-hole on social media, alcohol, excess caffeine, ultra-processed foods, that shopping high and ‘likes’ on our posts. Jo Woodhurst delves into ways to combat this.
Matcha - The Jitter-free Caffeine Hit

Cacao + Reishi is naturally more bitter than some of our other products but this is for very good reason. The powerful compounds of this functional mushroom are naturally bitter and an important indicator of its high quality and potency.

This really is down to dietary preference. We love adding our favourite unsweetened plant mylk to Cacao + Reishi but it goes equally as well with full fat, semi or skimmed cow’s milk.
IS THIS PRODUCT SUITABLE FOR BREASTFEEDING OR PREGNANT WOMEN?
You should always consult your doctor or midwife regarding any new additions to your diet or supplements you take during your pregnancy and breastfeeding journey. Although Reishi has been used for centuries, it is not advised for pregnant women at high doses and more research needs to be conducted to determine ‘safe levels’ and therefore we urge caution until then.
